Suspended Shakib Al Hasan to miss CLT20, IPL 8 for KKR

Suspended Shakib to miss CLT20, IPL 8
Dhaka, July 7:

IPL 7 champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be without their Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for this year's Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) and also the IPL in 2015 after the player was suspended by the country's cricket board for "severe attitude problem".

On Monday, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) suspended Shakib for six months and also prevented him from taking part in any overseas Twenty20 league till the end of 2015 after a spat over his participation in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). BCB took this decision at the board of directors meeting today. BCB has decided not to give Shakib No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play in foreign leagues. "He has a severe attitude problem, which is unprecedented in the history of Bangladesh cricket. We think that his behaviour is such that it's directly impacting the team," BCB president Nazmul Hassan told reporters.

Recently, there were media reports claiming Shakib had threatened to quit international cricket. However, the player had denied them. He returned to Bangladesh from London yesterday after being asked by BCB to join the national camp. Shakib was on his way to play in CPL without obtaining NOC from BCB. However, he said he had the permission to head to the Caribbean. Shakib's ban is a big blow for Bangladesh and also KKR. For KKR, he did well during this year's IPL and helped the team win the title. KKR will be playing in CLT20 this year in India.
