11.32: That's it - Miller smacks the last one for six and took 25 runs from the last over but KXIP have lost by five runs. They have now won only 2 of their 12 games this season
11.28: Miller has turned the game on its head; 16 to win off three balls and he is on strike to Ishant Sharma. This has been a sensational comeback.
11.19: Fifty for David Miller. And he's got there off only 32 balls. But it could be a losing cause for KXIP, who now need 39 off the last two balls.
10.57: WICKET! Another one for Henriques as he removes Gurkeerat Singh Mann. Miller is the only recognized batsman left now for Punjab as they slip to 99/6 in 14/.1 overs, chasing 186.
10.55: KXIP's chase has now spiraled out of control. After Bailey's dismissal, the onus is mostly on David Miller to come up with a stellar knock. KXIP 99/5 in 14 overs.
10.33: WICKET! More trouble for KXIP as Moises Henriques removes Saha, who took 10 balls for his 5. KXIP are 65/4 off nine overs, chasing 186 vs SRH.
10.25: This is not going to be a happy-ending for Kings XI Punjab; they have just lost Glenn Maxwell (11) to Trent Boult and reduced to 60/3 in 7.3 overs. David Miller is the new man in with Saha.
10.20: WICKET! Another one for Bipul as KXIP continue to struggle in their chase of 186 vs SRH. Punjab have had a really bad season and it continues to go downhill.
10.12: WICKET! KXIP had raced away to a blistering start but Bipul Sharma ended a strong opening stand, removing Murali Vijay for 24. KXIP are 42/1 in 5 overs, chasing 186 vs SRH as Saha joins Vohra.
9.56: SIX! Vijay greets Boult into the attack with a cracking shot over long on. That was a statement of intent if there was any. And then he follows it up with a FOUR! Vohra also joins the party with a boundary as KXIP move to 17/0 off 2 overs, chasing 186.
9.37: Thanks to Warner's efforts, SRH have finished with 185/5 - too many for a hapless Punjab? It will be a good contest between their batsmen and Hyderabad's pacers.
9.32: SIX! Full toss from Sandeep Sharma and Karn Sharma sends that one flying into the stands. Poor ball but top shot. Much needed runs for SRH, who had lost some momentum in the closing stages of their innings.
9.23: WICKET! Another one for KXIP, who are pulling things back a little in the end-overs. Naman Ojha is run out off the very nexy ball and SRH are 157/5 in 17.2 overs. It's now upto Karn Sharma and Lokesh Rahul to launch a late assault.
9.21: WICKET! Just when he looked well set to notch up a well-deserved hundred, Warner fell to Beuran Hendricks for 81. But it was a superb knock and thanks to the captain, SRH are 157/4 in 17.1 overs.
9.16: This has been a great knock by Warner - SRH lost some kind of momentum with the wickets of Henriques and Morgan, but the skipper has been steady for the team. He's now in the 70's and looks good for a few more before he's done with the KXIP attack. SRH 151/3 in 16.3 overs.
9.09: WICKET! Things happening for the Kings XI here - Beuran Hendricks has just got rid of the dangerous Eoin Morgan for 17 as SRH slip to 140/3 in 15.2 overs; they still have Warner in the middle and by all counts, the hosts are looking at a massive total.
9.02: WICKET! Henriques perishes in the cause of the team; he tried to accelerate further but ended up hitting Gurkeerat straight down Anureet's throat in the deep. SRH 123/2 in 14 overs.
8.56: Warner clobbers his 23rd IPL fifty, off a mere 26 balls. Sunrisers Hyderabad power along to 114/1 with seven overs left in their innings. With Henriques looking strong as well, KXIP face another daunting chase.
8.45: Hyderabad are on course for a massive score here. Henriques smashes Hendricks for two boundaries as SRH move to 86/1 in 10 overs vs KXIP in Hyderabad.
8.40: Warner continues to lead Hyderabad's charge - he truly is leading from the front. SRH 73/1 off 9 overs.
8.35: Moises Henriques has also come out with a positive intent - a loose ball from Gurkeerat and he punishes that without a fuss. Warner helps himself to another boundary as SRH move to 69/1 off 8 overs.
8.31: WICKET! And it's Maxwell who produces that vital first breakthrough. Dhawan was going great guns before the part-time off-spinner struck off his first ball to have him stumped for 24. SRH 56/1 in 6.1 overs as Moises Henriques joins Warner in the middle.
8.28: Sensational start for the Sunrisers, who have reached 56/0 at end of the powerplay.
8.22: Gurkeerat into the attack but Warner is not changing gears - he is already in fifth. Terrific batting by the Aussie as he smashes another one to the fence - 50 up for SRH in the fifth over.
8.17: SIX! Warner is on fire! He has just clobbered Hendrics into the stands and Uppal erupts. What a powerful start this is. Hyderabad do not really have a great middle-order so this opening stand is crucial. The duo is doing a great job as of now.
8.15: Beuran Hendrics into the attack and Dhawan hammers the first one away to the fence. This is great batting by the SRH opener. And the next one come off an edge but it's a boundary nevertheless.
8.12: Dhawan gets into the act now - rare lose deliveries by Sandeep and the India opener punishes them in style. Two boundaries on-the-trot. Both SRH openers looking in great touch, as they have done all through this season. SRH 28/0 off 3 overs.
8.10: Terrific over for the Sunrisers; Warner is on the offensive and takes 14 runs in the second over bowled by Anureet Singh. Hyderabad are 19/0.
8.04: Tidy first over from Sandeep Sharma; five runs off it as Warner and Dhawan look to settle in against a strong bowling attack - at least on paper. SRH 5/0 in 1 over.
7.45: Hyderabad have excluded Praveen, Bopara and Rasool from their side. KXIP, who are unchanged, are as good as out of this edition, but last year's runners-ups will look to redeem some pride by getting the better of a confident SRH.
7.40: Playing XIs:
Sunrisers Hyderabad: DA Warner (Captain), S Dhawan, MC Henriques, EJG Morgan, KL Rahul, NV Ojha (WK), KV Sharma, Bipul Sharma, B Kumar, TA Boult, I Sharma
Kings XI Punjab: M Vijay, M Vohra, WP Saha (WK), GJ Maxwell, DA Miller, GJ Bailey (Captain), Gurkeerat Singh, AR Patel, BE Hendricks, Anureet Singh, Sandeep Sharma
7.31: Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat vs Kings XI Punjab. SRH have made three changes, including Trent Boult, KL Rahul and Bipul Sharma in the side. KXIP are unchanged.
Aiming to Get Higher Up
Hyderabad are currently placed fifth in the points table with six wins from 11 matches. The good news? With 12 points, Hyderabad are only one short of equaling Royal Challengers Bangalore in the top-four of the table. The bad news? Mumbai Indians have 12 points too, even if the side has played one extra match. Overall, there are five teams in contention for the three remaining spots in the playoffs and it promises to be a fight to the finish before the business end of the tournament.
Hyderabad are on a high after their most recent win. The team beat Delhi Daredevils by six runs in a match that saw Moises Henriques slam an unbeaten 74. It was a knock that also showed that even if the explosive opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and captain David Warner fail, the others can deliver. That Warner (423) is third in the list of highest scorers this season, is a bonus for sure nonetheless. The bowling however will remain the main force of the side with Bhuvneshwar Kumar displaying splendid form in recent matches. With 17 wickets, he is the joint-second highest wicket-taker with Chennai Super Kings' Ashish Nehra. With support - full and part time - from a possible six other bowlers, Bhuvneshwar can look to add to his tally. (Also read:Bhuvneshwar, the heartbeat of Hyderabad)
Interesting Stats:
Maxwell has smacked 14 sixes in two matches vs Hyderabad, at a strike rate of 212.3. It's the most sixes the Aussie has hit against any one opposition in T20Is.
Sandeep Sharma (121) has the most dot balls this season. Hyderabad's Bhuvneshwar has bowled 104.
Bailey averages 28.5 from 10 games - the best average for any Kings XI batsman this season.
Playing for Pride
Punjab though would be itching to stop exactly that. Their batting may have been one of the biggest disappointments of this season but with nothing to lose, expect the team to finally come good on their promise of big shots.
Just two wins from 11 matches surely does not bring out a lot of confidence but Punjab showed a lot of fight in their previous match vs Kolkata Knight Riders. Glenn Maxwell hit 43 off 22 to help the side post 183/5 before the hosts at Eden carved out a tense one-wicket win, with a ball to spare. In a team filled with stars, youngsters like Anureet Singh (13 wickets) and Sandeep Sharma (11 wickets) have also shown grit and would be eager to bow out with heads held high.
