Clarke, Warner set to get multi-million dollar offers from breakaway league?

Australia's World Cup winning captain Michael Clarke and explosive opening batsman David Warner could be offered $ (A) 50 million deals to join the lucrative new T20 league, backed by the Essel Group, Sydney Morning Herald has reported. Both players could be offered 10-year contracts to join the league, it said. However, neither player was available for comments.
This new revelation strengthens rumours of a breakaway governing body for world cricket.
Some years ago, the Essel Group, which owns the Zee TV network and Ten Sports, launched the now-defunct Indian Cricket League (ICL). It now has registered companies with names similar to rival national cricket boards, prompting the International Cricket Council to launch an urgent investigation.
Besides registering 250 web domains, including globalt20.com, the Essel Group has registered companies like New Zealand Cricket Limited, Kiwi Cricket Limited, Aotearoa Cricket Limited (Aotearoa is the Maori name for New Zealand), Cricket Control Scotland Limited and Australia Cricket Control Limited, The Guardian had reported on Friday.
Though the group has reportedly not settled payments to all players who figured in ICL, the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations Chief Executive Tony Irish has warned that many players would be tempted to sign up with the breakaway body due to financial reasons.
"There is always going to be interest from players in events irrespective of what history has occurred," Irish said. "Obviously there will be some reticence from players based on what has happened but I don't think you can discount the fact that players will be interested."
Former FICA chief Tim May was quoted as saying that the recent restructure of ICC financial model that heavily favours India, England and Australia had led to several organisations mulling the idea of getting into cricket administration.
"There is a general dissatisfaction with the game's governance, how it's run and the inequity of the game's finances and there are other bodies around that would believe they can globalise the game of cricket in a more equitable fashion than the current administration," May said.
May reckoned that ICC would have to be on its toes to stave off competition. "If the current administration really wants to protect the game, they should look within to see how they can improve their own administration rather than blaming others who merely want to be competitive," he said.
"Any organisation that doesn't meet the highest standards, whether in corporate or sporting worlds, if there are doubts about the integrity of their leaders, if they're doubts about how they distribute finances, they're always going to be up for some sort of battle against someone who wants to do the right thing and that is probably what's happening in cricket," he said.

An early setback, a blazing show by Brendon McCullum, a middle-order collapse, rearguard action, an aggressive cameo and more wickets - there was no shortage of action in the KKR-CSK match at Eden Gardens as Chennai managed to post a competitive total. After the early dismissal of Dwayne Smith, Brendon McCullum came up with a fiery 32 off 12 balls. However, CSK lost wickets in a heap to be in a lot of trouble. At that stage, KKR would have looked to restrict CSK to a total below 150, but that was not to be. Dwayne Bravo (30) and Ravindra Jadeja (24) put on a 57-run stand for the sixth wicket before Pawan Negi contributed with a 13-ball 27 to help CSK finish with 165/9. Brad Hogg was the star performer for KKR, picking up 4/29 while Andre Russell (2/20) also did a good job.
Kolkata Knight Riders could not have asked for a better start as Pat Cummins struck off the first ball of the match to get rid of Smith. The West Indian reached out to a delivery outside off only to see Ryan ten Doeschate dive to his left at short cover-point to pull off a spectacular catch. Meanwhile, McCullum kept himself busy, making good use of the pace on the ball to help CSK forward with a flurry of big hits. He took a liking to Cummins, scoring a majority of his runs off the Australian quick.
Umesh Yadav, who was hit for two fours by Raina (8) had the last laugh as the left-hander failed to get the elevation while trying to go over mid-on, handing a simple catch to Piyush Chawla in the fourth over. Meanwhile, CSK quickly got past the fifty-run mark with Faf du Plessis and McCullum managing two fours off Yadav in the same over.
Chawla, who had dismissed McCullum in the last game, was introduced early, but he ended up going for a few in his first over with du Plessis scoring three fours, all through the cover region. McCullum though did fall to a spinner for the sixth time this season as the 44-year-old Hogg struck in the sixth over to send back the Black Caps opener. The opener was hit on the thigh after missing a pull, but umpire Marais Erasmus felt it was low enough to strike the stumps. CSK suffered a further setback as du Plessis (20) also fell in the same over, beaten by a wrong 'un to be out stumped.
From 69/4, it soon became 72/5 and Chawla was over the moon after dismissing Dhoni (1). The CSK skipper tried to nudge one off the back-foot, but the googly did the trick as the batsman failed to make any contact and was bowled. Dwayne Bravo too would have fallen cheaply, had Uthappa not put down a straightforward chance to deny Hogg a wicket.
The sixth-wicket pair took a while to take the total past the century-mark, but the situation demanded Bravo and Jadeja to bat in a circumspect manner as they had a lot of work to do. However, the fact that they got past 100 in the 12th over, which was possible due to McCullum's cameo, meant that they had enough overs to play around with, before launching a final blitz. Meanwhile, Bravo received another reprieve as Uthappa put down a tough chance in the 14th over. Hogg was the unlucky bowler again and the Chinaman bowler ended up conceding eleven off his third over.
The sixth-wicket pair extended the partnership to fifty in the 16th over, scoring at a run-a-ball, while Bravo's shield of luck continued to protect him as Gambhir put down a catch in the same over. However, Bravo finally departed, bowled by Russell in the 17th over after failing to read a slower delivery while attempting a slog. Negi, who was the next man in, dealt in regular boundaries and went on to register his best score in the IPL. Cummins came in for some more stick, finishing with figures of 1/54 from four overs as CSK crossed 150 in the 18th over. Hogg managed to send back Jadeja (caught at deep square leg) and Negi (bowled) in the penultimate over while Russell saw Mohit Sharma nicking one to Uthappa in the final over.
KKR, who opted to bowl, were unchanged while CSK changed the eleven for the first time this season. Ashwin's finger injury meant that Pawan Negi, who was the MoM in CSK's CLT20 2014 title triumph, got his first IPL 2015 game. Medium pacer Ronit More was handed his maiden IPL cap and he came in for Ishwar Pandey.
Brief Scores: CSK 165 for 9 in 20 overs (Brendon McCullum 32, Dwayne Bravo 30; Brad Hogg 4/29)

Stumps : Shafiq, Sarfraz turn on the heat
Pakistan were in firm control of the game by the end of Day 3 as they racked up a massive score of /5. Both Asad Shafiq and Sarfraz Ahmed scored their respective fifties and pumped up the lead over 200. While it was Shafiq's 11th Test fifty, it was the fifth one for Sarfraz. Pakistan now are in firm control of the Test.
The visitors scored 310 runs today for the loss of four wickets as the Bangladesh bowlers failed to hit the right areas. In comparison to other bowlers, Taijul and Hom bowled decently, extracting turn and bounce from the wicket. However, the ineffectiveness of Shakib and the pacers allowed Pakistan to form useful stands throughout their innings. A complete batting performance enabled them to dominate the proceedings with extreme ease. They would now be looking forward to extend the lead even further and aim for an innings win.
Join us back tomorrow for the live blog. We'll find out if the visitors make merry or the hosts pull things back.
Update : Pakistan cross 500
Asad Shafiq neared his fifty and Pakistan crossed the 500 run mark. They now have a sizeable lead of over 170. Bangladesh also reviewed an LBW call against Sarfraz on 20 off Rubel's bowling. However, the review was wasted as the impact was well outside off.
Wicket : Misbah falls for 59
Another half century stand was broken when Taijulgot Misbah to sweep on a flighted delivery. The Pakistan skipper got a top edge and was easily snapped up the deep backward square leg fielder. It was Taijul's third wicket of the match. The lead has gone past 140 runs now and Sarfraz Ahmed has joined Asad Shafiq at the crease.
Fifty : Misbah extends lead
Misbah ul Haq slammed his 27th Test fifty and along with Asad Shafiq extended Pakistan's lead over 100 and brought up the fifty-run stand. Pakistan also crossed 450 runs. Bangladesh have used 8 bowlers so far but have not been able to take wickets at regular intervals.
But then, Pakistan have always been different in Tests! © Cricbuzz
Tea update : Pakistan continue to build
Despite losing Hafeez, Pakistan have stuck to the plan and accumulated a lead of 89 runs. They scored 88 runs in the middle session for the loss of Younis and Hafeez's wickets. Hafeez became the third oldest Pakistan player to register a double hundred. By the looks of it, seems like the visitors are a commanding position and are on their way to garner a huge first innings lead. Misbah is batting responsibly on 43 and young Asad Shafiq has given him good company so far. Let's find out soon how the final session pans out...
Wicket : Hom removes Hafeez
Shuvagata Hom provided Bangladesh yet another breakthrough when he dismissed Hafeez for 224 runs. The batsman had got down to sweep a delivery that turned in but ended up gloving it. The ball flew to the left of the leg slip fielder Mahmudullah, who latched onto it in a flash and held onto a good take. Pakistan lead by 74 runs now with Misbah and Asad Shafiq at the crease.
Milestone : Hafeez cracks his maiden double ton
Mohammad Hafeez registered his maiden double ton in Tests. He was out twice in the 190s before and his previous best was 197. He did not celebrate wildly, just took his helmet off and pointed his bat at his team-mates in the dressing room before hugging Misbah. Pakistan still have a lot of work ahead and need to fatten the lead.
Wicket : Younis falls soon after lunch
Younis Khan was removed by Taijul Islam by a fantastic delivery. The batsman had gone deep into the crease and looked to defend but ended up completely missing the ball. It hit the top of off stump and the 62-run stand between him and Hafeez was broken.
Lunch update : Pakistan lead by 1 run
By Lunch, Pakistan had established themselves in the game with authority. Azhar Ali's wicket in the first hour of the game did little to disrupt their plans. The experienced Younis Khan has combined well with Mohammad Hafeez, who is not too far away from his milestone. Bangladesh have toiled in vain. Shuvagata Hom did get some turn and bounce from the wicket, but the rest of the spinners were ordinary. After opting for the second new ball, the host brought their pacers into the attack but nothing has troubled Hafeez and Younis so far. All that Pakistan has to do is treat the bowling on merit and build up their lead. We will see how they go about it in the post-lunch session...
Update : Second new ball taken
Bangladesh opted for the second new ball in the 84th over of the Pakistan innings. The partnership between Hafeez and Younis Khan has already crossed fifty. The veteran batsman began playing his shots straightaway and has already hit 4 fours so far. Meanwhile, Hafeez is just a few runs short of his maiden double hundred.
Update : Bangladesh lose a review
Bangladesh wasted a review when they appealed against Hafeez for a lbw call. The batsman missed the sweep shot and was struck on the pad off Hom's bowling. Hawk-Eye, however, showed that although the ball was hitting the wickets, the impact was outside the off stump. Hafeez was on 173.
Wicket : Hom breaks 227-run stand
Bangladesh finally managed to obtain a breakthrough when Hom dismissed Azhar Ali for a well-made 83. The quicker delivery spun back in, catching Azhar off guard. The ball penetrated his defence and went on to uproot the middle stump. Azhar was caught in two minds and was struck in his crease, unable to decide whether to get in front or settle on the back foot. The Bangladesh spinners are now getting good turn and bounce from the track and Pakistan need to be careful.
Update : Milestone achieved
Continuing from where they had left off, Pakistan began the day in a positive fashion. It did not take long for Hafeez to get to his 150, also his highest Test score against Bangladesh. His previous best against them was 143. The partnership also crossed 200. Pakistan trail by less than 80 runs at the moment.
Build-up : Pakistan on top
For the first time on the tour, Pakistan have finally found their mojo. Day 2 was all about their dominance over the hosts. After restricting Bangladesh to a low total, they came out all guns blazing in the batting department. Their reply was led by Mohammad Hafeez, who has been in terrific form in Tests of late. His flawless technique and range of shots was mesmerizing to watch. While Hafeez fired from one end, the other end was held up by Azhar Ali. His slow and steady innings were in contrast to Hafeez, but his support proved invaluable. Together they put up a solid 177-run stand. Pakistan now only trail by 105 runs and with 9 wickets in hand, they will be looking forward to eat up the deficit and then extend the lead as soon as possible.

Preview : M30 - KKR vs CSK

Revenge on KKR’s mind when they host CSK
Mumbai 29 April 2015
What

Less than 48 hours since their meeting in Chennai, Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings faceoff yet again. KKR will see this as an opportunity to settle scores after CSK snatched victory from their grip in the previous clash in Chennai.

CSK have six wins from seven outings, while KKR have seven points from as many matches (courtesy six points from the three wins and one point from the washout).

When

30 April 2015, 8p.m. IST

Where

Eden Gardens, Kolkata

The Protagonists

Over the years, Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir have been the pillars of KKR’s success. This year too both batsmen have scored runs, but they are yet to click as a pair. In six innings so far, KKR have realised only one half-century partnership from their opening pair. On the bowling front, how much damage the CSK batsmen cause in Brad Hogg’s four overs could decide which way the match swings.

It is said statistics are a reflection of the state of affairs. In CSK’s case, the numbers reveal the story very clearly; the openers, Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith, are the team’s top two run-getters this season. They have not only individually scored runs at a good pace, but have also generally given the team off to explosive starts using aggressive means at both ends. On the bowling front, CSK will be forced to make a change to their playing XI for the first time this season following the finger injury to R Ashwin. How CSK make up for the absence of their premier spin bowler – who was just starting to discover his rhythm this season – will also have a significant influence on the match.

Contests to look-forward to

KKR’s Brad Hogg kept the CSK batsmen on tenterhooks when these two teams met in Chennai earlier this season. The seven deliveries the 44-year old bowled to Suresh Raina made for gripping television; if the pair come together again, it will be interesting to see the CSK left-hander’s approach against the KKR chinaman bowler.

Previous Meetings

Chennai Super Kings have a fairly strong hold over the Kolkata Knight Riders if one looks at the historical contests between the two teams. CSK have won 10 of the 15 matches between the two sides.

When these two teams met in Chennai earlier this season, KKR were in a position of strength at 52 for 1 after five overs in their chase of 135. The introduction of the off-spinner R Ashwin in the sixth over turned the match on its head; he dismissed Robin Uthappa with his first delivery and then accounted for Manish Pandey with the first delivery of his following over to derail the run-chase. Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina then tightened the noose on the KKR middle order, and despite Ryan ten Doeschate’s late overs hitting, CSK prevailed by two runs.

Trivia

5 of CSK’s 6 wins this season have been when they’ve batted first, while all three of KKR’s wins this season have been in run-chases.

8 of the last 10 IPL matches at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata have been won by the team chasing.

This match will feature the two most experienced captains in T20 cricket; MS Dhoni has been captain in 192 T20 matches, while Gautam Gambhir has been captain in 112 T20s.

In the first five matches of Pepsi IPL 2015, the CSK spinners only picked up four wickets, conceding runs at an economy rate of 9.20. In the following two matches, they have picked up seven wickets at an incredible economy rate of 4.00.

What Next

Both KKR and CSK will be seen in action next on May 2. KKR head to Bengaluru next for their away contest against Royal Challengers Bangalore, while Chennai Super Kings head to Hyderabad for their away fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Rain gods deny RCB, RR chance to battle for two points
Mumbai 29 April 2015
Royal Challengers Bangalore will feel hard done by after rains washed out their home match against Rajasthan Royals half way through the contest. After batting first and posting 200 runs on the board, RCB never got the opportunity to defend the total as showers washed out the entire run chase. As a result, both teams took home a point each. For RR, this was the second time in two games that rain denied them a chance to fight for two points, following their match against Kolkata Knight Riders which was washed out.

Earlier in the evening, given the chance to set a target, RCB started off briskly with Chris Gayle hitting the second and third deliveries of the innings for four and six respectively. But Tim Southee, who was drafted into the RR XI at the expense of Chris Morris, forced the batsman into holing out to the man at square-leg off the fourth delivery. The Kiwi opener struck a blow in his second over when he drew Virat Kohli into a drive and had him caught behind.

RCB had rode on the performance of their top three so far in the tournament, and it was about time the rest of the batsmen contributed. The RCB middle order chose the right day to give a good account of themselves; from 19 for 2, there were handy contributions right through the batting lineup, as RCB recovered brilliantly to post 200 runs on the board.

AB de Villiers was the innings top-scorer; batting at number three, he played a wide range of shots and took full toll of the loose deliveries dished out by the RR bowlers. He was involved in two useful partnerships; he and Mandeep Singh added 74 runs for the third wicket, after which he and Dinesh Karthik were involved in a stand of 31 runs. The South African brought up 14th IPL half-century in style when he clobbered Stuart Binny for a six over long on. But in the fourteenth over, a mix up with Karthik resulted in his dismissal; he made 57 from 45 balls, aided with nine fours and a six.

With that dismissal it appeared RCB would be robbed of crucial momentum heading into the closing stages of the innings. The dismissal of Karthik in the seventeenth over – courtesy a second run out in the innings – only added to the hosts woes. However, in those difficult situations, emerged a new hero for RCB; 17-year old Sarfaraz Khan, batting for only the second time in the IPL, stole the limelight with some brilliant hitting. He wasn’t afraid to play his shots, and was especially severe on the 43-year old Pravin Tambe, off who he scored 19 runs off seven deliveries. The teenager remained unbeaten on 45 from 21 balls, during which he hit six boundaries and a six.

David Wiese and Harshal Patel together contributed 17 runs from ten deliveries as RCB finished their allotted twenty overs at 200 for 7. There were eleven overs in the RCB innings in which the hosts scored ten runs or more in the over.

Tim Southee was the most successful of the RR bowlers, returning figures of two for 32. Dhawal Kulkarni and Binny were the other wicket-takers.

The skies opened up just as the players were about to take the field prior to the start of the run-chase. After several instances of the skies playing “open and shut” and not allowing the players the opportunity to get on the field, the Umpires – Pashchim Pathak and Johan Cloete, along with Match Referee Ranjan Madugalle, were eventually left with no option but to call off the match.

Tea report
Bangladesh remained patient in reaching tea at 150-2 off 59 overs against Pakistan in the first cricket Test today.
Opener Imrul Kayes made a steady 51 and was the only wicket to fall in the second session on a placid Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium pitch, against disciplined Pakistan bowling. At the crease were Mominul Haque on 35 and Mahmudullah on 31.

Kayes and Tamim Iqbal shared a watchful 52 runs in a 27-over opening stand, after Bangladesh won the toss. Pakistan generated some genuine chances.
Kayes offered an easy catch off left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar, but Yasir Shah failed to take the catch and the ball eventually crossed the boundary rope for a four.
Tamim was on 16 when he edged a seemingly simple catch to backward short leg, which Mohammad Hafeez failed to grip. Shah made the breakthrough with the wicket of Tamim, who struck three fours in his 74-ball knock for 25.
Bangladesh paced the innings better after lunch, with Kayes and Mominul playing some confident shots around the wicket.
After Kayes reached his second Test half-century, Hafeez dismissed him for his first wicket with his remodeled action. Kayes hit six fours in his 51 off 130 balls.
Haque and Mahmudullah kept up the rhythm, foiling the relentless Pakistan attack. Hafeez and Shah took one wicket apiece.
Toss report
Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and elected to bat in the first Test against Pakistan at the Sheikh Abu Naser stadium in Khulna on Tuesday.
Bangladesh handed Test debuts to Soumya Sarkar and fast bowler Mohammad Shahid, while Pakistan picked uncapped batsman Sami Aslam for the opening match of the two-Test series.
Pakistan also ignored senior off-spinner Saeed Ajmal, preferring to go in with two specialist slow bowlers in left-armer Zulfiqar Babar and leg-spinner Yasir Shah.
The hosts swept the preceding one-day series 3-0 and also defeated Pakistan for the first time in a Twenty20 international.

Report : M26 - DD vs RCB

By Arun Gopalakrishnan
Mumbai 26 April 2015

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowlers won their team a match for the second game in a row after they dismissed the Delhi Daredevils for a paltry total at the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium in Delhi. After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, RCB’s bowlers were relentless right through the innings and dismissed the hosts for 95 – the lowest total of Pepsi IPL 2015. The opening pair then knocked off the runs comfortably, taking the team home with 57 balls to spare. The 10-wicket win – as commanding as they come - propelled RCB to fourth in the points table.

Mitchell Starc struck first blood for the visitors in the first over when he dismissed Shreyas Iyer LBW. Varun Aaron conceded 21 runs in his first two overs as DD moved to 34 for one at the end of five overs. David Wiese, introduced into the attack in the sixth over, struck immediately when he had the DD skipper JP Duminy nicking one to the wicket-keeper.

Aaron returned to bowl the seventh over and struck two deadly blows by dismissing Yuvraj Singh and Angelo Mathews off consecutive deliveries. Yuvraj Singh chased a fairly wide delivery, bowled back of a length and at good pace, only for the ball to take the outside edge on the way to the keeper. Mathews was at the receiving end of a snorter; the Sri Lankan was taken by surprise at the pace and direction of the ball directed at him, was in no position to play the ball and ended up fending it to the man at short midwicket.

Opener Mayank Agarwal (27 from 34 balls) added 28 runs in the company of Kedar Jadhav, before his decision to step out against Iqbal Abdulla cost him his wicket; wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik effected the stumping with the batsman way out of the crease.

From 67 for 5 in 12.1 overs, DD collapsed to 95 all out, adding only 28 runs in the next 6.1 overs. Kedar Jadhav, who batted at six, would be top-scorer in the innings with 33. The Maharashtra batsman faced 29 balls and struck four boundaries before he holed out to Starc at midwicket. There were ten balls remaining in the allotted twenty overs when Domnic Joseph was run out by a throw from AB de Villiers.

The RCB bowlers had a field day, and barring the first two overs bowled by Varun Aaron, there was never a let up in the intensity. Starc finished as the most successful of the bowlers returning figures of three for 20, while Aaron and Wiese returned with two wickets each. Harshal Patel and Iqbal Abdulla, who bowled a maiden over too, picked up one wicket apiece.

RCB’s run-chase was a mere formality given the target they were faced with. Though the first over produced only four runs, Chris Gayle cut loose in the second over hitting Domnic Joseph for a six and two boundaries. The left-hander kept his foot on the accelerator right until the field restrictions were eased, by which time RCB had raced to 50 for no loss; Gayle had 43 runs from 27 balls at that stage, while Kohli had contributed six runs from nine balls.

Kohli joined the party when Amit Mishra was introduced into the attack in the seventh over; he hit the leg-spinner for consecutive boundaries – one inside-out shot that raced to the cover boundary, followed by a whip to the midwicket.

Gayle brought up his half-century with a slog-sweep off Imran Tahir in the eighth over and remained unbeaten on 62 (40 balls, 6 fours and 4 sixes) when Kohli struck a straight-drive to take his team past the finish line. The RCB captain remained unbeaten on 35.

Brief Scores

Delhi Daredevils 95 all out in 18.2 Overs (Kedar Jadhav 33, Mitchell Starc 3-20) lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore 99-0 in 10.3 Overs (Chris Gayle 62*, Virat Kohli 35*)

Mominul continued and recorded his 8th Test fifty. In the process, he became only the 7th player to record 50+ scores in 10 consecutive Test matches. Just when it looked like Bangladesh had their noses slightly ahead, Zulfiqar Babar trapped Mominul plumb in front in the final over of the day to hurt the hosts. For Pakistan, Wahab RiazMohammad HafeezYasir Shah and Babar bagged a wicket each. The visitors dropped a few chances and they would want to improve their fielding. So that concludes proceedings. Join us back tomorrow for all the action from Day 2. Goodbye!
Opting to bat first, the hosts got off to a sedate start as the Pakistani pacers bowled a tight line.Yasir Shah came on and accounted for Tamim Iqbal in his second over. Mominul Haque and Imrul Kayes then batted sensibly to help Bangladesh get to 60/1 at lunch. Resuming after the break, the duo upped the ante but the latter fell soon after completing his 2nd Test fifty. Mahmudullah then joined Mominul and the duo were involved in a 95-run stand before the former fell one run short of a fifty.
Stumps, Day 1: 236/3 would have been better for Bangladesh, but they will take 236/4. Pakistan would have wanted a few more wickets, but they can be happy with the fact that they have not allowed Bangladesh to score freely. So it's all evenly balanced at the moment.
89.5Babar to Mominul, out Lbw!! What a time to get a wicket. Mominul can't believe that he's been dismissed. Flighted delivery from Babar, Mominul looks to defend, but the ball spins sharply and goes past the bat. Hits him in line with middle and off and that looked absolutely plumb. Umpire Nigel Llong had no hesitation in his mind and he put his finger up in a flash. End of a gritty knock from the little man. He falls short of a well deserved hundred. Mominul lbw b Babar 80(162) [4s-8]
Babar to Mominul, THATS OUT!! Lbw!!
Mominul has been given OUT LBW, he consults with his partner and decides to review. That looked pretty out to me. Anyway, let's go through the process. No issues with Babar's footing. Looks like there is no inside edge as well. Hawk-Eye says hitting the stumps and the on-field call will stay.
89.4Babar to Mominul, no run, flatter delivery just outside off stump, Mominul defends off the back foot
89.3Babar to Shakib, 1 run, flighted delivery from Babar, Shakib advances and drives it down to long-on

74.1Yasir Shah to Mominul, no run, flighted delivery from Shah, Mominul misses the flick, the ball hits the pad and goes to Azhar Ali at short leg. There was no bat involved and it was bat hitting ground that caused the extra noise. Pakistan have lost both reviews now
Pakistan have reviewed for a catch after umpire Ranmore Martinesz shook his head. They seem very confident. No issues with Yasir Shah's footing. Was there an inside edge? There were two sounds. Is it bat hitting ground? No Snicko or Hot-Spot available. So this is going to be a tough call. There has to be enough evidence to overturn the onfield call. NOT OUT is the final call.
Shakib Al Hasan, left handed bat, comes to the crease

Welcome back for the final session. The players are out in the middle and we are all set for the action to begin.
Tea, Day 1: Good session for Bangladesh. They have scored 90 runs for the loss of Imrul Kayes in 29 overs. Mohammad Hafeez removed Kayes soon after the latter completed his second Test fifty and since then these two have shared a fine fifty partnership to keep Bangladesh going. Pakistan would want improve their fielding, having put down a few chances in this session. Take a break and join us back in a short while for the post-tea session.

Welcome back for the second session. The players are making their way out to the middle.
Lunch, Day 1: Bangladesh made slow progress on a good batting surface. Both Junaid Khan andWahab Riaz bowled a tight spell up front to keep Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes very calm. With the pitch offering some assistance to the spinners, Pakistan employed Mohammad HafeezZulfiqar Babar and Yasir Shah into the attack. In the second half of the session, the hosts managed to pick up a few boundaries before Tamim was dismissed by Yasir Shah. The ball has just started to reverse a bit and it will be interesting to see the approach of the Bangladeshi batsmen against Junaid and Riaz. Take a break and join us back for what promises to a good post-lunch session.

0.5Junaid Khan to Kayes, no run, crisply driven off the front foot but straight to mid-on
0.4Junaid Khan to Kayes, no run, good length delivery outside off stump, Kayes lets it go
0.3Junaid Khan to Kayes, no run, good length delivery outside off stump, not much of movement on this one, Kayes shoulders arms, the ball brushes the pad en route to the keeper. Impact was well outside off stump and even with Junaid's angle from over the wicket it was not heading towards the stumps. Umpire Ranmore Martinesz thought for a while and shook his head. Sarfraz Ahmed was very confident, he forced Misbah to review and Pakistan have lost one very early
Shout for LBW, not given. Sarfraz is confident and he wants Misbah to send it upstairs. Pakistan have reviewed. Needless I guess. That ball was never going to hit off stump. Anyway, let's go through the process. No issues with Junaid Khan's footing. Hawk-Eye in, it says wickets missing and Pakistan have lost a review just three deliveries into the innings.
0.2Junaid Khan to Kayes, no run, this one shapes away from the left-hander, a tough delivery first up for Kayes. On a length delivery, pitching just outside off stump and moving away, Kayes plays inside the line and gets beaten
0.1Junaid Khan to Tamim, 1 run, off the mark straightaway. Just a bit of inswing on this fuller length delivery, Tamim looks to defend off the front foot, the ball rolls to mid-wicket off an inside edge
Three slips and a gully in place
Tamim and Kayes are at the crease. Tamim is on strike. Junaid Khan will open the attack
The players are making their way out to the middle.
Pitch Report: 'It's flat. Lot of runs to be had. There are a few cracks and the surface is a little dry. Spinners should enjoy bowling on this wicket,' reckons Athar Ali Khan.

Bangladesh have won the toss and have opted to bat
Pakistan will be delighted to see Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan back in action again. Saeed Ajmalcould play a Test match after eight months having got his bowling action cleared by the ICC. There are also a few other players who are returning to the Test fold. So overall, Pakistan would want to leave past results behind and start the Test series on a good note.
First a clean sweep of the ODI series and then a comprehensive win in the one-off T20I, Bangladesh have had a great time so far. With a lot of momentum behind them, can they win the 2-match Test series as well? Hello and a warm welcome to the first Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan in Khulna. The last time Bangladesh played a Test series at home, they beat Zimbabwe 3-0. However, this is going to be a tough challenge though.
