Kumar Sangakkara was unbeaten on one and nightwatchman Dhammika Prasad was on three after India removed both openers in the first two overs.

India, replying to Sri Lanka's first innings score of 183, were all out for 375 just before stumps.

NOT OUT. Too close to call. The replays were not clear at all. MATHEWS survives. Good ball from Ashwin to start with. It was pitched a tad short of fuller length around off. Mathews looked to work it around the corner but the ball spun and bounced. It went off the bat and almost carried to Rohit Sharma at leg gully who scooped low to take the catch. The fielder's initial reaction was that perhaps it did not carry but Ashwin kept on appealing and eventually Rohit said that he was not sure. The umpires felt it best to refer it upstairs and their soft signal was that it is not out. The third umpire takes a long look at plenty of replays and it is not clear from any replay whether Rohit has his hands underneath the ball. Eventually, the benefit of doubt is given to the batsman.

We are all set for the day to begin. Kumar Sangakkara walks down the steps from the dressing room along with Dhammika Prasad who is the night watchman. Plenty of fireworks get buzzing around as a mark of celebration for Sanga's final innings at Galle. Varun Aaron will start off the bowling proceedings.

For Sri Lanka, Kaushal picked up 5 wickets but at a high price. What the Lankans can learn from Kohli and Dhawan is the way they batted with patience. None better than Kumar Sangakkara to show that.

It was a day of milestones as twin tons from Dhawan and Kohli saw India ease past Sri Lanka's total of 183 quite comfortably. The Lankans then came back in the afternoon session, picking up quick wickets, to restrict the visitors to a lead of 192, when they were looking good to be 300-350 ahead. However, with two wickets falling just before play, India now have a realistic chance to finish this game off tonight itself, needing 8 wickets and the Lankans needing another 187 runs to make the tourists bat again. Will we see a Sangakkara special on his last innings at this venue? Will the hosts fight hard and grind out the day? Or will the dangerous Galle pitch aid India's bowlers and give the Lankans a taste of their own medicine? Stay tuned to find out!

As of now, Sangakkara and night watchman Prasad will be the overnight batsmen who will continue tomorrow. The onus will be on Sangakkara to make sure Sri Lanka don't collapse. With the ball turning sharply, Ashwin, Bhajji and Mishra will be itching to get a crack with the ball. We have the chance to see a result unfold tomorrow, as early as Day 3. The lead for India at the end was 192 as they got out for 375 runs. India will look for an innings defeat as their aim will be to get the Lankans all out by the end of tomorrow. Ravi Ashwin already drew first blood in the first over itself as he bowled Karunaratne. Then, Mishra, in the second over of the innings took the scalp of Kaushal Silva with a googly.

A good day of cricket has come to an end. Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli both got their centuries before departing. Saha played a handy knock in which he scored 60 meaningful runs to take India to a healthy lead. He can count himself unlucky to be given caught behind as replays showed that the ball went off his helmet. UDRS was not available and that cost him. The pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka was Tharindu Kaushal as he got a 5-for.
